Is gumbo an ingredient? I thought it was a stew ...
It's on there the same way soup is on there...Bread's not really an ingredient, either...
or Pizza....some things are ingredients, some things are center of the plate!
how about
1 - meatballs (any kind of meat or meatless)
2 - "potted" roast (long slow cooked roast of any kind)
3 - pasta sauce - red (tomato based)
4 - pasta sauce - white (non - tomato Based)
than gumbo is a .............? technique?meatballs - we had this in ground meat
potted roast is a technique not an ingredient - beef, pork, lamb, turkey all can be roasted
sauces are sauces and if u r being specific about them being pasta sauce then they would probably go with the pasta category
edit:
u added stew..again to stew something is a technique and not really an ingredient.. you can stew fruits and make it a jelly, jam or compote
than gumbo is a .............? technique?
just trying to understand the rules and Standards
salad? ingredient or tech?
okgumbo is a soup or stew...i never said anything about the gumbo category
if you want to get real technical about the word gumbo, its from Bantu(Angolan) word (ki)ngombo, meaning okra. The word came into Caribbean Spanish as guingambó or "qimbombó."
so technically, the meaning of gumbo is a vegetable
oooooo oooo battles in the different forums!!!!!!!!!
NOW THAT COULD BE FUN ALSO!!
i'm not that serious i just got to thinking after reading GG's post and it made sense sorry sweetie!!
sorry!!we kept it simple with just ingredients when we started this just to see if the interest was there and if it would continue to stay
we were basing it on the real IC show which uses ingredients and not techniques
