CRAP !!

dewar was a chemist and physicist at oxford university who invented cordite (smokeless

gunpowder) and, in 1894, the dewar's flask, a double-shelled bottle with a vacuum between the glass shells.

it kept hot liquids warm and cold liquids cool.

two german glassblowers began making the bottles for commercial use, holding a contest to name the bottles. the winning name was "thermos", derived from "therme", the greek word for heat.
