Here’s a simple one: a side-dish we do ALL the time!

Keltin’s Southern Green Beans

Ingredients

1/2 lb fresh green bens (pole bens, snap beans, etc)
3 medium potatoes, peeled and cubed
1/2 cup chopped ham
1/2 cup chopped onion
1 tbsp minced garlic
1 tbsp Soy Sauce (optional)
1/4 cup White Zinfandel wine (optional)
1 cup Chicken Broth
1 cup water
Salt & Pepper to taste

Procedure

In a medium stock pot, add some Olive oil and bring to medium high heat. Add Ham and onions, and sauté for 5 minutes.

Now add garlic and wine (if using) and sauté 3 minutes longer to reduce.

Next, add potatoes and stir to incorporate. Let things settle in the pan, then pile the green beans on top of the potatoes.

Now add Soy (if using) chicken broth and water. Cover and allow to cook 20 - 25 minutes (until potatoes are tender). Serve with your favorite main course!

Good one! I never thought about putting wine in green beans, but why not.......I put it in just about everything else that I cook .

Looks awesome Keltin! Mine are very similar except I usually use bacon and I've never thought to use wine...bet it gives it a nice little "extra".
