Default XING?

Could someone tell me why there is sometimes text as XING on the caution signs? Like this one:

Should I be aware of Chinese deers or what that XING means in there? Is it English word?

It means crossing, as in the area is known for deer crossing the road, so it's a warning to be aware. It's just using the x as a short version of cross.
