I don't remember seeing any other sub shop chain that bakes there own sub rolls on the premises.

It's not just Subway, Sherm. The article states it's in commercially made bread in the US as well. I have a self inflicted rule that if I cannot easily pronounce a food ingredient, that it probably really shouldn't be in my food. Again, it's just my personal opinion, not based on any scientific research, that much of what goes into processed foods is NOT good for you, and is probably the reason there are so many cancers in people's bodies.

This is why I continue to make my own bread...simple and delicious with water, flour, salt & yeast.
