If you don't want meat in your sauce, just leave it out!
1 1/2 pounds lean ground beef
1/2 cup of onion, finely chopped
3 cloves of garlic, finely chopped
1/2 teaspoon of red pepper flakes
1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes
1 can (6 ounces) of tomato paste
1 can (15 ounces) of tomato sauce
1/2 cup of water
2 tablespoons of sugar
2 teaspoons of dried basil
1/2 teaspoon of fennel seeds
2 teaspoons of Italian Seasoning
1 teaspoon of salt
1/4 teaspoon of pepper
2 tablespoons of dried parsley
Here's what you need to do:
In a Dutch Oven, brown the ground beef.
Add the onion and garlic and cook until the onion is translucent.
Add the crushed tomatoes, sauce, paste, and the water.
Stir until well blended.
Add the Basil, Fennel Seeds, Italian Seasoning, Salt, Pepper,
2 tablespoons of Parsley and the sugar.
Stir until well blended. Cover and cook for at least 45 minutes but if
you have the time, cook it for 2 to 2 1/2 hours, it will be even better.
