The Wisconsin Cheeseman

Years ago, I either sent assorted cheese gifts to family/friends out of State, or had some sent to me to give as gifts to folks that were hard to shop for. I had forgotten about this company, & was glad to see you can order from them on line. There is quite a variety of food to pick from. Or, you can get some ideas for making up your own gift packages or baskets.

If you're really into high-quality cheeses instead of just the processed stuff, these folks are one of several I've ordered from:

Thanks for the link, Don't understand your post re "high-quality cheese" and just the processed stuff. Wisconsin cheeseman is not processed food/cheese. If you took the time to look at their site they offer blue cheese, gouda etc. They offer chocolate tortes etc., nuts, fruit etc. Re high-quality cheese - what do you consider high-quality cheese? I can go to my Italian market & buy riccota salada (sp) at $14 per pound, but the price of s/h & time etc. would not be economical (as the links I've posted).

Sorry CaliforniaCook, but 90% of the cheeses on the "WisconsinCheeseMart" site ARE processed. It's not natural cheese. There's nothing wrong with that, & I apologize if I made it sound like there was. I love some processed cheeses & spreads (LOVE cheddar with Port wine spreads), but look more closely at their offerings - they ARE mostly processed cheeses.

Same goes for good old "Hickory Farms" offerings that everyone loves. Again - there's nothing wrong with that, but if you're into true natural cheese that age, artisinal or not, Wisconsin Cheese Man &/or Hickory Farms ain't your place.

But if you're interested in trying or gifting REALLY good cheese, & know what you or your giftees enjoy - THESE are the sites you should be perusing. I've ordered from all of them, & the descriptions, ripeness, quality, & prices are more than above board.

But really - whatever floats your boat.

Doc has always told the mods that we are members first so I'm going to say this as a member. I really don't know how the other mods feel about this.

Christmas is not only a time of giving but also a time to reflect upon what is really important in life....so.....after reading this thread....I can't help but ask, "What's more important....your opinion of cheese?....or the way that the words that you choose (when expressing you opinion of cheese) make someone feel?" It would have been great to just add more links to other online food gifts and leave it at that.

Personally, I would love to receive a wonderful gift of cheese from the Wisconsincheeseman and if I gifted someone a gift basket from there and they were to turn their nose up at it, I might consider finding me a new friend...at the very least, I can guarantee that they wouldn't turn their nose up at the next gift that I bought them....but that's just me.
