Plain olive oil and blue can Crisco stay out, but everything else goes in....butter, ketchup, mustard, soy sauce, sesame oil...

Butter - In the fridge.

Ketchup - In

Mustard - In

Sesame oil - out (have never yet had a bottle of regular, toasted, or chili sesame oil go rancid on me in a cool pantry, but I always do a sniff test before using)

Soy sauce - out - again, never had a pantry problem & I buy the stuff by the gallon.

Maple syrup - out - never a problem

Extra-virgin olive oil - out

Olive oil with any garlic or herbs - In

It depends for me. Many things I buy are marked refrigerate after opening which I do. I do use a lot of Asian condiments so I'm not always sure so I've learned to read the labels.

Oils never in the fridge. Syrup depends. Everything else, always in the fridge.

Side story - It actually weirded me out several years back when I had a boyfriend who only store ketchup in the cupboard. I'd never seen ketchup store out of the fridge and actually started checking bottles at the store because I could've sworn that it had to be refrigerated. I was obviously wrong.

I never kept ketchup in fridge when I had a house full of kids. I do now simply because we don't go through it nearly as fast and I read somewhere it does stay fresher.
