Tongs

A few years ago I bought one of those 3 piece Oxo tong sets. Was very happy with them up until now. The springs are all rusting out and breaking making the tong pretty much useless. I remember emailing Oxo about a year ago (for another thread) asking if the springs were stainless steel and they replied that they in fact were. I sent them another email this morning asking if they have been updated, so we'll see what happens with that.

In the mean time, I found these at Big Tray which I'll probobly buy. They even mention that the "stainless steel springs are replaceable". Plus they're a few bucks cheaper.

I'll post the response from Oxo when I get it.

Even stainless steel will rust over time as any metal will including aluminum. With that said I have a couple of pairs of Oxo that I use a lot. I've not seen any rusting on the springs but have replaced them do to the spring breaking. The shorter ones seem more prone to the springs breaking as the long one I've had now over 5 years. I also never put them in the dish washer as stainless reacts to some of the dishwasher liquids over time, similar to a good knife. I've tried those you listed I think and they don't lock closed which makes them hard for me to store.

Oxo is going to replace the tongs, lol. I guess I'll be having extra tongs now. :bonk:

Thank you for the response. However, these tongs are a couple years old and the receipts are long gone. You will still warranty them?

Thanks.

For replacement only as a courtesy for a Loyal OXO consumer.

We are always happy to assist you! Thank you for being a valued consumer!

You can never have enough tongs. I use them all the time inside and out. I've been meaning to get some more.
