Default Buttermilk substitute

Has anyone used the 1 c milk, 1 tsp vinegar for a buttermilk substitute before? I forgot the buttermilk at the store and don't want to drive back just for that.

TIA

Yes, it works. Go ahead and do it, Lefty. However, there is a powdered buttermilk product that I have in my fridge that works well, too.
Amazon Amazon
I have a can of this stuff that I bought at the supermarket for when I need buttermilk in a pinch.

Just let it sit for a few minutes so it can "sour".
