Earlier in the summer DH bought me my own basil plants from the Farmer's Market and one by one, they're gone. (I asked for them because I'm lazy to wash the herbs from the grocery store).

I bought a package each of fresh parsley and cilantro to make my own pesto and they quickly rotted in the fridge. I need another way ....

So, today, I walked over to a local nursery, chose 3 seed packets like a boss, and asked advice on what kind of dirt and planter to put them in. (Remember I'm in a city apartment.)

Long story short, I'm now growing my own herbs for pesto and salads. It's a shame I didn't start in the spring, huh?

CM, do you have a sunny window sill for your pots, or are they outside?

Well, better late than never. Basil is an annual but I grow it through the winter in my garden window. There is nothing like fresh herbs.
