methinks there's three secrets to a perfect scallop sear....

the hot pan
pat the scallop dry 'on the way into' the pan
a dab of butter for color

I use olive oil in a cast iron skillet - heated until it just smokes - I stand there with scallops in hand waiting for the first wisp . . . (g)

We had the chicken and carrots again tonight with two glasses of wine on the side. The wine was a bit much and need to cut back to one glass.

Looks good Sass! What'd you get?

I'm riding the storms out and having mozzarella cheeese curds and a couple summer shandys.
It was!

Shrimp cocktail for starters-- shared.

I got the grilled swordfish, lobster mac and cheese and cuban sweet corn.
Kasey got crab cakes and fries.
The portions are huge and a very nice place indeed!

Yeah, I know about those storms that may be coming this way... eek!

How about if it's a ready-made thick crust?

550 on a stone is pretty darn hot.

Nice pie there Peeps.

Thank you Sass.

And I do use Mama Mary crusts in the summer. (In the winter or cooler times I use Trader Joe's raw pizza dough. And it still only takes about 5 minutes to cook.) Thick or thin only takes 3-5 minutes on a 550F pizza stone.

Not sure what's for dinner. Having a bad allergy attack last 2 days. Eyes red and swollen, nose stuffed up. Very painful. I also have a sore throat. I want soup. If DD helps maybe split pea soup made in the Instant Pot. Quick, easy and won't heat house up.

Oh, man, everyone's meals look SO good! And the photos could be in cooking magazines!

Sass, I love that kind of breakfast casserole, and it's a great idea to have it for dinner. Will have that soon!

This casserole was very good!

I used 4 slices of Lewis Hawaiian bread (crusts included).
8 of Meijer's maple sausage patties.
Jack cheese instead of cheddar.
Half and half instead of milk.
Jane's Crazy Mixed Up original salt seasoning.

Everything else was per the recipe as printed.

We had watermelon chunks from the store to accompany.
There is enough left for breakfast in the morning.
