Uncovered frozen bananas?

Okay, long story short, the boyfriend tried to do a good thing by freezing some whole bananas that were starting to turn back. He froze the whole bunch....peels and all....but not in a plastic bowl or anything. He just put them in the freezer door.

How long do you think that'd be safe without freezer burn?

I pulled them out, let them thaw, and they -look- fine on the inside....smell fine, too....just like you'd expect of soft, squishy bananas getting ripe. I'm not sure how long they've been in there, though, so any educated guesses would be appreciated.

I freeze mine in the peel like that all the time. I don't know how long you can freeze them like that but I've never had a problem with them going bad or getting freezer burned. If you don't remove the peel, I don't know that they can get freezer burned...I would think that the peel would work like a vacuum seal.
