Interesting one yesterday, though. I got the "Computer Maintenance division" calling me to tell me that they are monitoring my computer and I am downloading viruses and malware.

I told him that monitoring my computer without a court order is a federal offense.

He said F**** ou you SOB. Before he could hang up, I told him that I was going to *57 the call.

He called back immediately apologized and asked me to please not do that.

That was a new one.

it is unusual - most of the scam operations are either physically located overseas or using VOIP that traces to overseas. since most country have no laws to prosecute this kind of 'crime' authorities can't do diddly.

Wow, I did not know about *57! Good info.

But I bet if I tried it, I'd run into one of the issues that Chowderman posted.

BTW, I hate to jinx myself, but I am receiving fewer robo and junk calls.
