Marzipan Bees

These are originally meant for decorating the cakes and cupcakes but why not use them also as candies...

Marzipan Bees

Bees are easy to make. Use 1-2 oz. of marzipan and some sliced almonds for the wings. Paint them with black frosting or use the melted chocolate for the "bee look".

Recipe to the second picture:

Marzipan Bees
1/4 cup marzipan
1/4 cup sliced almond
black food coloring

To create the marzipan bees: Take a small piece of the marzipan and roll it between the palms of your hands until it is lozenge-shaped. You can taper one end slightly to be the back of the bee. Paint the stripes on the marzipan with a clean paintbrush or toothpick and black food coloring. Allow it to dry until it is no longer tacky.

Once the stripes are dry, press the sliced almonds into the sides to create the bees’ wings.

Don´t worry if they don´t look as perfect like in the pictures

- they still are delicious and cute.

But don´t make them too cute...

...because then you might not want to eat any but keep them as pets.

Saliha, these are so cute. I've always wanted to work with marzipan to make fruit shapes and such around Christmas time but never quite had the nerve or the artistic ability to do it. You've just given me some inspiration!

Carrots might be quite easy to make for the beginners. And apples too.

Marzipan carrots and oranges:

How cute do they all look? With bees out of marzipan, you can really realize great ideas. In my opinion, especially the examples of the cupcakes are a beautiful work. So, I now what I have to do next weekend ;)
