And a little cat trivia for Caturday :)

A couple of months ago, I noticed this piece of sagging skin under both of my cats' bellies. I was thinking that I was overfeeding them. Much to my surprise, that sagging skin is pretty common and called a primordial pouch. It allows them to stretch their bodies farther and aids in their running and jumping abilities. It also protects the cat's innards in case an attack cat accidentally gets him on his back.

And one more little tidbit...I've watched both of my cats smell something, look up, and have their mouths open. I thought they were smelling something gross and were going to throw up :yuk:. After a little reading, I discovered that cats have some kind of scent/smell glands in their mouths, so they open their mouths to get a better whiff of the whatever.

This cat trivia has been brought to you today free of charge :yum:
