Chicken and Dumplings

Be sure and don't get too much grease or dumplings will stick together. Put 2 or 3 cups of flour in a dish. Add some salt and about 1/3 up grease. Mix. Roll out. Whenever you put the dumplings in, be sure the broth is boiling like crazy. Drop in one at a time. Leave the lid off. Dumpling will come to the top when done. Then push under water. Easy for second batch. Turn fire off and put in a little milk. Sit on back of stove. Sir gently with big fork to keep separated. (for squirrel and dumplings, don't add milk, just water) stew chicken until tender. If young chicken, put in some butter.

This was one of my grandmother's recipes. She assumes you can read between the lines :chef:
