the dog was in the yard...and yipped. can you recognize certain inflections in their yips/meows? so something was afoot:
dog lower left, young deer mid-frame.

stood there looking at the dog.... I was very surprised - usually one yip or a door opening and the deer are way far gone . . .

We've got deer here that aren't in the least bit shy.
Others will run off at the slightest sound.

one would think a barking dog would be enough . . .



the deer stood there, made several turns while selecting which yummy greenery tasted best . . . looks like a youngster. I walked out into the yard to take that pix (got several from further away...) and the deer did me a pose. I left - that side of the fence is theirs, the deer stayed for desert. the bushes just atop the fence pickets on the left are wild blackberries - that always draws them in but they have not yet flowered.
