What Hath God Wrought?

end of last week I was in the supermarket, looking for bagel chips. DW has this pseudo trail mix thing . . .

no find. ask SYT. dumb stare back. went to ask a manager....

Monday I was looking for lentils to go with the ham hocks (other post...)
no find. ask SYT.
"What's that?"
mumble mumble
"Is it like a dry thing?"

we're doomed I say. doomed.....

Hmm.. Sweet young thing must be too inept to being working in a grocery store. lol

All the stores I frequent have a dried bean section.
Luckily we get all that in bulk at Winco. I do buy 5#
bags at the veg farm in Zillah and keep red and yellow
lentils ahead. With that said, my first job was stocking shelves
and carry out at the local Red Owl. Sometimes I couldn't
find my ass with both hands but then I knew what everything
was.

I've ranted on about our local Giant. it was superb, but the last two years they've spent turning it into a nightmare. bunches of highly competent people have disappeared and been replaced with teeny-boppers with about half of them being part time. they mean well, I suppose, but multiples possess a distinct attitude of "don't bother me I only work here"

the aisles are packed with freestanding displays to the point it is hard to navigate.
quality of meats, produce, fish and fruits has gone in the proverbial toilet.
lots of stuff has been discontinued; if it didn't sell $20k/week they dropped it....
annoying to the utmost.

other options are regrets limited. Wegman's announced a store about 35 minutes off - but last I checked they had not yet broken ground.
