The Polar Night

The polar night starts here today - at the north of the country the sun shines only 15 minutes before it goes down and next time it will rise after 2 months, at the 16th of January.

Days at this time are not as dark like in the night but shadowy.

During this time here at the south of the country the light of day lasts only 5 to 6 and half hours per day.

Northern Finland is about the same latitude as northern Alaska. Luckily all of you get long summer days to make up for all that darkness in winter.
