there's been many many articles on the 'dirty dozen' and such - fruits/veggies that show up with high levels of pesticides. that's bad enough - but what really raises the hair on my neck is stuff coming from other countries. 'the rules are the rules' - but not infrequently countries / importers get caught using stuff that has been outright banned.

the other issue with these 'lists' and 'OMG articles' is how far they've stretched the facts - and exactly who is paying their 'experts'

livestrong dot org and dot com were started by Lance Armstrong - who never doped anything - so he's certainly trustworthy, right....?

we're on the edges of Amish country - during the season organic stuff is frequently less expensive because it's sold 'by the head / piece / bag / whatever' versus 'by the pound' and if you do the math, the local stuff is cheaper. the Amish just don't do the one pound per bag type thing.
