The corn silk at the top of each ear of corn is female, and the tassel at
the top of each corn stalk is male. Interestingly, both reproductive
structures initiate as perfect (bisexual) flowers, containing both male and
female reproductive structures.
The corn plant is a form of domesticated grass, which no longer exists in
the wild.
