Beef heart stew (for Mav)

  • 4 pounds beef heart
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 carrots, chopped
  • 2 potatoes, chopped
  • 2 teaspoons dried thyme
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1/2 cup red wine
  1. Wash the heart really well and then remove any fat and the arteries. Then slice it into 1/2 inch thick slices.
  2. cover each slice in seasoned flour
  3. Heat butter in pan and add the meat slices and cook for 45 seconds on both sides.
  4. Then mix in the onion, carrots, potatoes, thyme, beef broth and wine.
  5. Cover your pan and simmer for 1 -2 hours or until meat is tender . :wave:
you can also add any other veggies that you like!

Hey Mav...

It had been awhile since I made this... Just got done throwing a pot on the stove.

Made these changes...

Added garlic and onion powder to the flour
After my butter was melted I sauted 4 sliced garlc cloves (then removed)
Added celery and mushrooms to the veggie list

Used much more beef broth (didn't measure, sorry!)

Added a can of diced tomatoes
Cubed meat instead of slicing
