The "Breakfast" thread

I still haven't decided on breakfast.

Here is yesterdays... a guy at church is a pastry chef and brought these for hospitality. We only had 10 for second service due to the snow event. I had two  - I hate myself.

This Morning's 'Left-Over' Breakfast...

Steak & Eggs..

Breakfast was rarely my responsibility, and when it was, I'd take us to the Diner, lol....
That said, I learned today that you do NOT reheat Steak in the Microwave....
I thought it would fare better in there for 45 seconds than it would in a fry pan..... WRONG !

This is what went into the machine, and you see what came out on the plate above...

LT - hopefully your m/w has a power setting - try 2 of out 10 for reheating 'tender' stuff - like steak slices, sausage patties...

I do bursts of 2 mins on power level 2 (out of 10) - with 10-30 seconds between bursts to let the target soak up and distribute the heat....

it is easy to make jerky on high, been there, done that, threw the apron away . . . (g)

THX, Chowder....
I have never used anything but "Start" and "Defrost" ......
I figured my mistake was slicing it BEFORE it went in...

A lesson learned today...

the new waffle irons have a couple "twists" over the ancient type -

the "deep" aka Belgium style is one option
they "flip" - pour the batter in the bottom, close, flip over so batter fills the top nicely...

LT - do you have a scale? that's the easiest foolproof method for small qtys.
for waffles
140 g AP flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
100 g sugar
mix 1 large egg into
230 g milk
combine, stir, pour.

some use vegetable oil/melted butter in batter - 1 tablespoon for the small batch above. I've done it with and without and frankly my deer it's hard to tell the difference.

non-stick waffle iron, no sprays/oils/nutting but 'lectricity. full preheat absolutely essential....

the flour/milk ratio works for King Arthur AP. flours differ, you may need to tweak for your brand.

consumer versions of the hotel types (at the make your own breakfast included places) where it's mounted in a stand - pour batter, rotate iron. they take up more real estate, tho. the flip versions accomplish the same thing.

I had a few Shrimps left from last night's Dish, so this A.M. I chopped three up with two left for presentation, and attempted the Warden's favorite Cape May Breakfast..... Three-Cheese Omelet with Cheesy Shrimp 'n Grits...... Did it well ; Only things missing were her Toasted Potato Roll and the Mimosa....

Hmmm..... needs a better lighting....

One of these days I must try Sass' baked beans over toast. That's a British fave, right Lollie?

I think it looks and sounds more appealing topped with that egg!

Today's Breakfast..... What Granny would have done;

Shaved the leftover Pork Loin of its breading, heated in Gravy, Spooned over a Three-Egger, re-Heated Yam Shards...
