Ground beef cooked down?

I'm not sure how to explain it but I've seen a few cooking shows where the ground beef was cooked down into sauce form?

If so how do you do that?

are you talking just cooking it until it is really fine pieces of meat or are they adding something to it?

like making hamburger gravy or mushroom gravy?

maybe this one

google hamburger gravy

http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Hamburger-Gravy/Detail.aspx

  • 2 pounds lean ground beef
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 quart milk
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 teaspoon onion salt
  • 1 small onion, chopped (optional)
Place hamburger in a large, deep skillet. Crumble and cook over medium high heat until evenly brown. Remove from heat and sprinkle flour over cooked hamburger. Stir until evenly coated and all fat is absorbed. Place skillet over medium heat, add 1/2 of milk and stir until gravy begins to thicken. Add remaining milk until desired consistency has been reached and gravy comes to a boil. Season with salt, pepper and onion salt. Serve over mashed or boiled potatoes, toast or biscuits. Add fresh chopped onion if desired.

I would use about 4-6 shallots, and its not for gravy, I like to make a meaty Enchilada sauce!

I have the enchilada recipe already, Thank you very much for posting the recipe though bro.

Thanks Bam, I'll give it a try but can I use 4-5 shallots instead of a yellow onion?

or a medium onion?

Brown the meat in a hot skillet, and stir constantly to break it up. Drain it when done (pour it in a colander). From there, add ANYTHING you like to make WHATEVER you like. It’s really that simple.
