The Ballad Of Thunder Road, performed and co-written by actor Robert Mitchum in 1957, with music by composer Jack Marshall. It was the theme song of the movie Thunder Road. The song made the Billboard Hot 100 twice, in 1958 and 1962, and while it never peaked higher than #62, it racked up 21 total weeks in the chart.

Thanks to loboloco for the suggestion!

Thanks. Brings back old times
Yes it does. Memories of sitting in the car at the drive in Munching popcorn we popped at home and brought in a brown paper grocery sack!

Junior High maybe? Before girl friends, just the 5 of us. Mom, Dad, me, and my brother and sister.

We went couple times a month. Popped our own corn and brought our own drinks. Don’t remember the price. Maybe a dollar a carload certain nights each week.

Remember sneaking someone in in the trunk?

I have very different memories of the drive-in . We weren't allowed to go, but we went anyway.
