A Private Messaging primer.

These are the basics and cover 90% of PMing. If there are questions not answered here, then please post them.

To check your PMs, click the Notifications link in the upper right-hand corner. A menu appears. Select the appropriate item.

To send a user a PM, click on their name and an option box appears. Click on “Send a Private Message….”

After you have done so, enter a Title and then type your message.

To Reply to a message, simply hit the reply button in the lower right-hand corner.

When you are replying, there will be quotes, sometimes multiple quotes. The quotes are defined by HTML tags. You can edit and delete anything you don’t want to quote. An opening HTML quote tag is [ quote ] (without the spaces!!) or [ quote=keltin ] to define a username. The ending tag is [ /quote ]. There is a slash to show it is an end tag. All text between these two tags is your quote. HTML is strict, so make sure there are no spaces in the tags when you edit this such as [ quote] (notice the space before the q).

To forward a PM to someone, hit Forward in the lower right-hand corner. In the Recipient Username box, type the first few letters of the user. The system will then make a suggestion. Click that suggestion to add them as a recipient.
