Peep's Sesame String Beans Stir Fry

  • Peanut oil to deep fry
  • 2 TBS peanut oil
  • 1 lb string beans - cleaned
  • 1 clove garlic - minced
  • 1/3 cup chicken broth (or water)
  • 1 tsp soy sauce
  • 1 TBS Sesame seeds - or to taste
  • Several drops Sesame oil
  • Several drops Hot Chili Sesame oil
  • Additional sesame seeds for garnish if desired
  1. Toast sesame seeds in dry pan till golden; remove from pan and set aside
  2. In heavy pan heat 1 inch oil.
  3. When a drop of water sizzles when place in the oil it is hot enough. (STAND BACK WHEN DOING THIS & BE CAREFUL!)
  4. Drop string beans in and quickly stir them around for 1 minute then remove from oil.
  5. Heat 2 tablespoon of peanut oil in a heavy wide frying pan. (I used my 13-1/4" cast iron pan)
  6. Add string beans and garlic and stir fry for 1 minute.
  7. Add chicken broth or water, lower heat, cover and cook until beans are crisp tender.
  8. Return sesame seeds to pan, along with a few drops of sesame oil, hot chili oil (if using) and soy sauce.
  9. Sprinkle with additional toasted sesame seeds if desired before serving.
Note: You can skip the deep fry step. Just stir fry and steam the beans a bit longer till beans are tender.

Peep, I looked up Korean green bean recipes and they look very similar to this one.

Okay if I use it for part of my Korean entry, you think?
