Do you serve steak whole or sliced?

I've always served, and have been served, a whole steak on a plate for each person.

Every restaurant I've ever been to has served it that way, too.

A friend from Arizona said that he's always served steak sliced, on large platters, and people choose the slices they want. He said he's never served whole steaks on plates.

How do you serve steak?

If it's a normal sized steak for 1, whole. If it's a 3" thick reverse seared steak like we had tonight, sliced. One of those is enough for dinner for both of us, lunch for me, and a good sized snack for Dogboa.
