This is another that Mom made every holiday. She mentions a 19 cent bottle of garlic powder. I assume that this is a small bottle because you cant buy anything for 19 cents this day and time :yum:

19 cent bottle garlic powder (see comment above)
1 c margarine
3 tsp Worcestershire sauce (optional)
1/4 to 1/2 tsp red pepper (optional)

Melt together and set aside.

1 large box Wheat Chex
1 large box Corn Chex
1 large box Rice Chex
1 large box Cheerios
1 large sack pretzels
1 large bag nuts

Mix together

Then pour the melted butter mixture over all. Mix well. put in shallow pans and bake at 200 to 250 degrees for 1 1/2 to 2 hours. Stir often.

Jim how does this taste? What is it like? Salty? Sweet? Spicy?

it's a little tart, not sweet. Salty depends on the nuts you put in.

There is a commercial chex mix in the grocery stores that is similar.

Sounds good. I"ve had the store bought variety at parties before.
Reminds me of a home favorite. Mexican Garbage. Hey Bondie, how about posting the Mexican Garbage recipe. She has it down to a science. :thumb:
