Thanks for the recipe ChowderMan. It is a hard bread to find. My Vons carried it for a short time. When I asked why they no longer made it I was told that it has a very short shelf life. I can still get it at the Safeway in Scottsdale Az.
When I was much younger I would ride my bike to the local bakery and buy a loaf for my mom. The first thing that my sister and I would do when we got home was to load up a couple of slices with butter and devour them.
that's the problem with a lot of good bread recipes - I always like to make it "by the book" first couple times around - but some of the qtys are way too much for two.
