I lived in Adana for 18 months in 1971-72 while in the US Air Force, and thoroughly enjoyed the local food. Sadly, I remember few dishes aside from the kebabs. Adana kebab and Doner Kebab were mid-day favorites when I would go into town on my days off, and breakfast was always ekmek (bread) from the stone oven of the local bakeries, and a jar of milk that still had the cream floating on top.
Çay or Turkish coffee were other favorite beverages, along with baklava and pistachio ice cream (fistik dondurma) for dessert..
