Re: Happy Birthday Leni

Thanks everyone. It was a nice day.

QSis where did you find that cake decoration?

I googled "Belly dancer birthday cake" and found a lot of great photos.

I've never been much of a baker, but someday, I'd like to try working with fondant.

Amateurs cooking every National Dish

We are Paul and Jason, two normal (just about!) guys from England who are absolute amateurs. What we know about cooking between us would barely cover the surface of a small cracker.

We are attempting to cook the national dish of every country in the world.

Our journey is called "Cuisine and Country".

Each week we intend to select a country and cook its national dish!

We are here for all the advice, guidance, suggestions and experience we can gain from this fantastic community.

I guess we have simple palettes and no real cooking skills, but we have determination and just about enough insanity to hopefully undertake this journey. Hopefully we will eat well and learn lots!

Welcome to forum.

Sounds interesting idea.

By the way, if Finland will be in your list at some week, I am glad if I can help you with Finnish recipes.

Great, thanks.
I have the Finnish dish down as "Karjalanpaisti"
Is that correct? And more importantly, what the heck is it?

Tomorrow night we are cooking Cepelenai, the national dish of Ukraine...
Should be a good challenge, but hopefully not as time consuming as Mansaf we have just done (national dish of Jordan!)
