Probably everyone knows this trick, but do you know that it will keep asparagus fresh for as long as at LEAST 2 weeks in the fridge?
Put the bunch down on the counter so that the tips are fairly even with each other. Pick up one stalk and bend it until it breaks. Put the end of the stalk aside and lay the stalk back down into the bunch. Cut the rest of the stalks to the same length as the stalk you broke.
Place the bunch in a sturdy mug or jar, in water about 1/3 of the way up the stems. Put in fridge without covering.
Asparagus is a great price now, so STALK up! (pun intended)
