For us PNW mossybacks, this recipe is of a sustainable nature since pears and cranberries are produced here.

Cranberry Pear Pie

Prepare enough dough crust for a bottom

5 cups thinly sliced, peeled pear
1 1/2 cups fresh cranberries
2/3 cup packed brown sugar
3 T quick cooking tapioca
1 T fresh lemon juice
1 t vanilla
1/4 t fresh grated nutmeg

>Topping<

1/4 cup AP flour
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup rolled oats
2 T chilled butter cut into small pieces

Preheat oven to 400

Line a 9" deep dish pie pan with crust dough & flute edges. Toss pears, cranberries and 5 other ingredients mixing well and transfer to pie dish. Combine topping ingredients in a food processor and pulse until topping appears grainy. Evenly distribute over fruit.

Cover loosely with foil and bake 30 minutes. Let stand at least 1/2 hour before serving.
