maybe this was too hard without having a list of answers to select from.

the number is Lonesome 7 - 7203

written by Justin Tubb, performed by Hawkshaw Hawkins, later by Ray Price. It was first released in 1963 just before Hawkshaw died in a March 1963 plane crash with Patsy Cline and Cowboy Copas.

But you got me trying to remember that other song with a phone number in it ...also from the sixties:
647-?789
I'm thinking 3789 but not sure of the 3.
It was by a girl band, if that helps.

It was by a girl band

That remark is what I would expect from Sushi :hide:

Sounds familiar though. If I manage to remember I'll post it.

Jim

PS - don't remember how long but Lonesome 7-7203 made it to #1 just after his death and was in the top ten for several weeks. Hank Thompson and Webb Pearce recorded it too.

Actually the correct answer for #11 is Jerry Rubin.

Dylan may have repeated it, Rubin said it first.

Throwing the correction factor in I got 20.
