there's several subspecies of Schlumbergera - which bloom Thanksgiving/Christmas/Easter.

aka (insert the holiday) cactus

they survive a great deal of neglect but need to stay moist, not wet, when it's time to bud and bloom. day length triggers their blooming cycle.

once they start to bud, if you move them or rotate them they're likely to drop their buds.... they depend on the exposure that set them in bloom.

this is real - such places exist in Germany - old towns 'redone' . . .
but not often so well photo'd - striking, I found...

"Reuters / Sunday, December 16, 2018 Snow covers the roofs of the so-called "Alter Flecken" (old spot), the historic core of downtown Freudenberg with its half-timbered houses from the 17th century in the heart of the federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia, near the city of Siegen, Germany. That's beautiful Chowder.
Chesterfield England has many of those half- timbered houses too, as well as Stratford- upon -Avon.

it is striking - the snow on the roofs methinks provides the contrast to make it so....whatever.
and the obviously "coordinated" lighting is a prime factor.
makes one wonder if it was staged.

however, I did notice two things . . . .

- all the stucco is white. that is probably the only place like that, at least in Germany - most Fachwerk houses are more colorful and/or decorated.
- the windows....way way too 'all the same' - looks like a government rebuild / restoration. the small 6/8 pane and cross pattern is very authentic - but they sure look like pvc replacement windows. triple pane, high efficient, yadda yadda - but fake looking
sigh. details details...
