... and then there was the cake.
I frosted it pretty thick.
So thick that the cake slicer dragged the frosting down on the cake.

:yum:

I love liver and onions. When we go out to eat, I order it, and that way, no one will pick from my plate! ....

The very first dinner the Warden cooked for me (1977) was Liver & Onions... I had told her that I detested the dish; she said I'd probably never had it cooked correctly...... she was right !

Me too.
My Mother and Grams both used to flour, then low fry liver, then make a browned pan gravy that had mustard in it.
That's the only way we'd eat it as kids.

LOL. I hated Liver as a kid too.

Remember the old Stuckey's roadside restaurants?
That was my first experience with liver and onion hate.
Full of ambition for wanting the same thing Grandpa had, I said I'll have that too.
Mistake.
It was tough.
It was also tough according to Geegee.
"You wanted it young lady, get to eatin'

I covered it in mash potato and chewed furiously, washing it down with soda.

Then I discovered Mommy's and Grams.
Not bad at all.

Breakfast was half my Italian hero saved from last night's dinner.

Lunch was a McD's Egg McMuffin (with half a hash brown and hot sauce on top of the egg) and home brewed coffee.

Dinner is planned to be split pea with ham soup.

I made Vegetable Beef Soup in the slow cooker overnight.

It was pretty good.

Tina made a Shepherds Pie!.... I call it Slop! I ate some, and it was great tasting, but way too salty for my cardiac diet!

Not feeling too inspired about dinner this evening.
I'll keep it simple.
Probably egg salad sandwiches and fruit salad.
We've grapes, apples and blueberries.

Egg salad on honey wheat.
Apple and blueberries tossed in lemon juice.
I'll have popcorn later while I watch some Christmas movies on my laptop.

getting in the thick of it . . .

no grill. fish chowder tonight - baby golds, nice. used some salmon - normally I go with just white fish, but I like the salmon add. + cod, halibut, perch.

recipe calls for evaporated milk - oops - the shelf is bare . . .
I whisked about 1/4 cup of SAP flour into heavy cream; it sat for 10-15 minutes and got noticeably thicker. interesting twist - taste was excellent. no idea if that's something new or old....

Stomach issues today.
I had raisin bread toasted with cream cheese spread.
The poor wife is beat; with neck, shoulder, and arm infections.
Dr gave her a shot of cortisone in the shoulder.
I made a fried crispy pepperoni and egg on white bread for her.

I had left overs last night- The picture I took gave it no justice. It was similar to Shepherds Pie. Mash over the roast Beef stew, + Colby Jack across the top.
Super tasty.
