OK - I am awake and I can see, so let's fill in some blanks.

My eyes
I got new glasses last December and about a month ago, It seemed like I needed new ones again. I went my eye Dr., also a friend and customer. He pulled out all the stops and fired up all his eye toys. Soon I was looking at a picture of my retina. Normally the middle (called the macula) is a cup. Mine looked like a mini hill. He called it macular edema and arranged for me to see a retinal specialist. She told me that I had "macular pucker" and surgery was needed. The surgery was yesterday. At today's followup She told me that everything went well. she cleaned off the membrane and fixed a prior existing retinal tear that I didn't know I had. Now I just have to heal. That process takes about two weeks.

Candy (Now known as Morgan)

You may recall that we lost our last lab in February and the house has been pretty empty since. We had been looking at some rescues, but most of the rescue organizations were telling us that we are too old for "spirited" dogs. We happened by one rescue that had Morgan. She was abandoned in a doggie day care for over tow months. That day care had no outside. The rescue picked her up and sent her to a trainer for two weeks and we were supposed to have a "meet and greet" when she got out. Monday night the rescue called and said she would be by Tuesday at 8:00 Pm with our dog. No meet and greet, just ours. A bit of turmoil there with the upcoming surgery and short notice.

She is a Labrador / Great Pyrenees mix. She stands about 27" at the withers the is the most loving, affectionate and strongest dog I have ever seen. She does not jump into my truck as "The Boyz" did she just steps into it. She is really tall.We are both smitten. She is settling in nicely and hopelessly stealing out hearts.

BTW I had posted before that Maureen was resisting getting a dog. One day, she just clicked on and we are both happier for it.

I will apologist if I have some spelling / grimmer errors in here. Things ar not yet completely clear.

Andy, thanks for posting about your eye surgery - I was wondering what was up with that. Wishing you an easy, and speedy recovery!

I love the name "Morgan" - it suits that magnificent dog the way "Candy" never could! Please hug Maureen on behalf of all of us who wished for another dog in your life!

Keep us posted, especially on Doggerdays!
