Pluto, and concluded by its motion that it was orbiting a larger body. Two
nights later, he located Pluto.

Pluto was discovered in 1930 by American astronomer Clyde Tombaugh. Its
moon, Charon, wasn't discovered until 1978, by U.S. Naval Observatory
scientist James W. Christy.
