Lamb Shepherds Pie

1/2 lb. lean ground lamb
1 medium onion\cooked, chopped
2 large cloves garlic, minced
1 tsp. Italian herb seasoning
1 lb. Italian style chopped tomatoes
2 cups prepared mashed potatoes, room temperature
2 Tbsps. grated Parmesan cheese

Preheat oven to temperature 450°F. Combine first 4 ingredients in a
heavy saucepan over medium heat. Stir about 3 minutes, or until lamb
is light brown and onion is tender. Increase heat to high. Mix in
tomatoes with their juices and cook about 10 minutes, or until
almost all liquid evaporates. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Spoon mixture into 9 inch diameter glass pie dish. Drop
tablespoonfuls of potatoes over lamb to cover completely. Sprinkle
with cheese. Bake about 15 minutes, or until potatoes are
light golden.

Yeah I get it in Pubs whenever it is on the menu... just never have the Lamb on hand at home so I end up with Cottage Pie. Need to remember to buy Lamb.

hmm never put Lamb in my Meatballs... now you have me thinking... also for my "middle eastern" meatloaf with mint-yogurt sauce... hmmm I have a grinder too.

Oh help me! This sounds so good. DW doesn’t like “exotic” meats (the “thought” gets stuck in her head even though it DOES taste good!), but I’m cooking this. I’ll make her a Filet Mignon, she always overlooks whatever I’m eating when I do that! Thank you!
