MnDPS_MSP - Minnesota State Patrol Good morning MSP Fans! Fact or Fiction, this "Friday Funny" put my feet in a frenzy... I imagine this is how Fred and Barney felt every time they got in the car to cruise the mean streets of Bedrock. Enjoy!

In most of the United States there is a policy of checking on any stalled vehicle on the highway when temperatures... drop to single digits or below. About 3 a.m., one very cold morning, a Montana State Trooper responded to a call of a car off the road just outside of Great Falls.

The trooper located the car which was stuck in deep snow with the engine still running. Pulling up behind the car with his emergency lights flashing, the trooper walked up to the driver’s door and found an older man who appeared to be passed out behind the wheel, an empty vodka bottle on the seat beside him.

The man, seeing the flashing lights in his rearview mirror, and noticing the trooper standing next to his car, panicked. He jerked the car’s gearshift into drive and hit the gas.

The car’s speedometer was showing 20 m.p.h., 30 m.p.h., 40 m.p.h. and finally 50 m.p.h., but it was still stuck in the deep snow, tires spinning.

The trooper, having a sense of humor, started running in place next to the stationary car. The driver was completely freaked out thinking the trooper was keeping up with him. This went on for about 30 seconds before the trooper knocked on the window and shouted to the driver to “pull over.”

The driver acknowledged the troopers request, pulled his car over to the side of the road (or so he thought) and stopped the engine.

Needless to say, the driver was arrested --- and is probably still shaking his head over the Montana State Trooper that could run 50 m.p.h.

Now who says troopers don’t have a sense of humor!?! Happy Friday everyone!
