Potato Vodka!

While on vacation in Florida earlier this month, some friends and I did a side-by-side-by-side taste test of several vodkas before we made Bloody Marys.

We tried two popular brands, Belvedere and Kettle One, and a potato vodka, which seems to be everywhere now.

To our surprise, we all liked the potato vodka MUCH better than the other two! It was considerably smoother, less alcohol-y.

As far as I'm concerned, it doesn't make any difference what vodka you use in a Bloody, but when you're having a vodka tonic, or vodka martini, the difference is noticable.

I'm a convert to potato vodka now!

I think that Luksusowa is the only brand of potato based vodka carried in Virginla, and the only Russian made vodka. The others are grain based, which in my mind make them something other than vodka.

Luksusowa, IMHO, is the best buy for the money. Most are made from grain but prefer triple or more filtered. Luk is more difficult to find here. I did have a bottle on MV and enjoyed it.
