did you use a pizza / baking stone?

it's a clever looking gadget, but a whole lotta' pizza types seem to have good success using their kettle / green egg / etc with just a stone.

No just put it on the grill.

I'm not even sure where the recipe is now, it's been several years.

I wish I could do a big brick unit so I could do French pot recipes but no idea how long I'll live in this house and don't want to go to the expense.

Peter Reinhart's book, Amercan Pie, has my favorite recipe pie for pizza crust on the grill. It's one he created especially for grilling. I just lay it right on the grill grates, and it comes out wonderful.

I've thrown pizza parties for 20 people with it. Make individual dough balls in advance and let everyone top their own.

If you are interested, I'll dig out the recipe.

I'm interested, too, Moxie.

We ARE talking charcoal grill, right?

I've done pizza on a gas grill before, but I haven't owned a gas grill for 20 years.

Yes, in his very long chapter about grilling pizza, he insists that it's best over charcoal. Although he concedes that you can do it over gas.

Since he's so well known, I took a chance and googled it. I found the recipe in several sites, so I didn't have to type it all up. Here are a couple.

I also found his own blog. I didn't spend any time poking around there, but I suspect you'll find a lot more info on his own site.

Have fun! His pizza recipes are as good as his breads.
