I did beef tenderloin and mushrooms in a bordelaise sauce, and Brussels sprouts with blue cheese.

The farfale was a bit odd, but I didn't have any potatoes in the house, and I wanted something to absorb that sauce.

Yes, they are very easy to make. I use Momofuku's recipe at Food 52 for the buns

Karen, I have his book. I should probably give them a try since we eat them so often. I've shied away from making them because the only yeast thing I've have consistent luck with is pizza dough.

Lee, that's encouraging! Maybe when I retire I can master bread, too. If we don't quit buying houses every 2 years, I might be able to retire someday.

Sass, love the presentation. You seem to be having fun with the prettles. They look like sausage - do they taste similar?

Lucky, as usual, you have the most colorful and well balanced meals. Even the SOS.

Andy, what is that pan called? It looks like a wok, but different.

Silver Sage - It goes by a few names "Plow disc cooker" "Discada" and "cowboy wok". Its 24" across. It is actually made from a disc from a farmer's disc harrow. 1/4" thick solid steel. Polished inside and seasoned like cast iron. It's virtually non stick naturally. It provides a pretty full temperature range from the center out. There is a big lid for it, so one can steam or bake. Temperature control is somewhat tricky, but I'm learning.

First of all, thank you very much!
Coming from you, that really means a lot.

They are made of ground pork and beef, with pin oats and all spice.
In the container they are a loose meat.
I was told not to add anything to bind it.
Just cook in oil until browned and the first oat bits start jumping in the pan.
Prettles are fairly well known only to this part of Ohio, apparently.
Now I lived just miles from here for 17 plus years and never had them, until now.
They only sell them at a place called Herm's Meats.

Tina mommy made a roasted whole chicken today.
It was a real home made one; and not a Swanson Microwave one.
Dessert was a treat.....I could eat more, but I held off!

The chili consists of:
2 bratwurst, sliced and browned in skillet.
Can of Amy's chili with beans, 1 c V8 juice, can of fire roasted corn with liquid, 1/2 T minced garlic, 1/4 t onion powder, 1 t brown sugar, dash of Worcestershire, black pepper.
Topped with thinly sliced muenster cheese.
This is good.

Last night was Taco Bell.

Tonight will be corned beef sandwiches on seeded rye (I may also cook some potatoes in the seasoned corned beef liquid).

The restaurant is out in the middle of farm country in Fulton county.
I got the homemade chicken salad on their homemade bread.
Left with half dozen iced cinnamon rolls and cold pea, potato and angel hair pasta salads.
After that we went to Homestead Ice Cream.
I got a turtle sundae.
That was supposed to be small???
