New Kitchen

Started this last spring. Summer, boating, etc got in the way, but now it's back on track.
The sink base is great - everything but the front is plastic, so an inevitable leak will not ruin the thing.

There will be a island in the middle.
Wine cooler goes in the hole under the wine rack.
42" Jenn Air fridge in the hole between the two tall cabinets
The appliance cabinet gets a built in cappuccino machine, a Jenn Air micro/convention, and a Jenn Air warming drawer.
48" Jenn Air gas/electric stove under the hood.
Jenn Air dishwasher next to the sink base
Island has an Ice maker, a bar sink, and a TCC built-in blender/mixer.

The hood still gets trim to hide the exhaust duct, and there will be cap on top of the cabinets

Heated slate floor, and the backsplash will be painted plate glass.

Summer is grillin season. everything on the grill or a hot plate. Fall was the same. So, for the last few months - mooching off of friends and then taking them out to dinner other times. Can't wait for some more home cooking!

Let me tell you - every house is crooked; may have been built straight, but time takes its toll.
In this case, the floor dips in the middle.

So you start with the corner wall cabinet, right?

No. Base corner, work out to the tall cabinet, making the toe kick level, so that the top horizon can be found, paint the line with a laser to the corner, then install the corner wall cabinet level, and work out to the tall cabinet, then go backwards and pull the base cabinets a fraction of an inch to the tall cabinet.

And we have two parrots. Poncho, the yellow nape, is quite unpredictable, as am I when things are getting tough and not going as planned and smashing fingers and feet. So I am drilling and attaching the sides of the cabinets to each other with the drill motor and it slips and I smash my thumb, and along comes my "God....it, f#@!.

Poncho, in quick rapid succession, repeats it, perfectly, twice. It is now in his little brain. It will come out again some time, when least expected.

There in lies the parrot joke about the priest and his parrot.

I've been absent a while.
here's some pix of the kitchen.
The heated Ditra-heated floor (Orange!)
The slate installed on top of it.
One of the three slabs of granite
Some general pics.
Not shown in these is the under-stairs pantry entry. When I bought the cabinets, I bought a tall cabinet front only. That is now the door to the pantry.

The backsplash isn't done, yet. The glass is all cut out, my guy just needs to find the time to prep the glass and paint it. Going to use a glassprimer product.
Here's their gallery if you've never seen a glass backsplash.

Just wifey and me. But ya, summer time is party time. Ice maker makes 50 pounds of ice a day. That's a of of punch and martinis!
