HERE COME THE TOMATOES!
I got a 5-6 week late start on my tomato plants this year, but there starting to turn now. I'll be overwhelmed in a few days. That's a good thing!

Tomatoes dehydrate and rehydrate extremely well with good taste, so I built 3 more drying trays just for them, and I can use them for the cantaloupe as well. I still need about 5 more. That will give me 18 total.

I started with about 33 tomatoes and ended up with about 5 or 6 qt bags that will so into storage in the basement.

I threw the scraps to the chickens.

(The chickens are another story).

Thanks Doc!

This has been a fun year for me in the garden. I planted 'way' more of just about everything than the two of us could ever possibly use.

One of the more satisfying things has been the cucumbers, yellow squash and zucchini. I've been picking a 5 gal bucket of cucumbers every day now for about 4-5 weeks, and about the same for both kinds of squash. When the neighbors started locking their mail boxes, and we froze or dehydrated as much as the wife would allow, we started donating them to our local Hospice thrift shop. They have been selling the cucumbers for 25 cents each, and the squash for 75 cents. People have been coming in and asking if they have more. It's very rewarding for me and one way we can help with a very good organization.
