This is a Showcase of a single ingredient.

Each post should revolve around the showcase ingredient.

There are no strict rules just a single dish or a meal involving the showcased ingredient.

When possible post should include your recipe/instructions (or a link to your recipe). Pictures of your dish are always welcome and would be wonderful but not mandatory.

Let's have fun with this!!

And the star of this Showcase is ... Cheese!!

Can this be something fairly recently made, or do we have to start with something we'll be making in future?

Peep said no strict rules, so go ahead and post a recent dish, Sass.

Okay!

Well, I really REALLY liked Lucky's smoked gouda, tomato and Italian dressing side dish.
Will be making it again. Very good blend of flavours!

Well I made mac and cheese tonight with 4 cheeses plus the cheddar mix that came with it. Added velveeta, some 8 year super sharp, Cabots horseradish and shredded cheddar. Like all kinds of cheeses.

Lee or Mama I think it would be better if we leave out the month in the title. What do you think of this title:

Re: Ingredient Showcase ... Cheese September 2012

I was looking around at some recipes for Boursin Chicken and ran across this recipe from Cajun Chef Ryan on how to make your own boursin cheese. This sounds pretty tasty. I love to just put the store bought stuff on a cracker.

http://cajunchefryan.rymocs.com/blog2/recipes/chicken-boursin/ngredients

8 Oz Cream cheese, softened
1 Tbsp Garlic, finely minced or mashed
1 Tbsp Chives, fresh chopped
1 Tsp Thyme or basil, fresh chopped
1 Tsp Parsley, fresh chopped
¼ Tsp Garlic salt
¼ Tsp White pepper, ground

YUM!! I like to just use garlic and herb pretzel chips and scoop.

I'm going to make a melon, prosciutto and mozz salad with balsamic vinegar dressing sometime within the next couple of days.

I suppose it could be honeydew, but was going to use cantaloupe.

Yes, there will be a pic. :)

Our Italian holidays would have honeydew and procuit waiting for you when you sat, as an appy/starter before the appy. LOL

Easy Cheesy Chicken

Chicken breast pounded thin and cooked with very little oil in my green pan, topped with sauteed onions and mushrooms, and smothered in provolone cheese:

Looks good and I'm sure it tastes equally well. Toss in some smoked Keilbasa, and a bottle or 3 of good stout, and you've got yourself a fine Sunday football snack.

So, how's that green pan working out? Do you like it? Is it holding up well?

So far I really like it. It seems to be a bit slicker than a Caphalon non-stick pan, and clean up is a breeze. No scratches or problems so far, but it's still pretty new.

LOL cooksie. I haven't had the chance to do any cheesey dishes lately except grated romano and parm on pasta last night but no pics.

I have a small and a large green pan. The small one I use to make crepes and thats it. I am not very impressed with them. Food sticks in my large one.

Cauliflower and Swiss Cheese Soup:

CauliflowerSwissCheeseSoup-1.jpg

This was one of those wing-it soups that turned out very good. I cooked the cauliflower in chicken broth, made a thick white sauce (butter, flour, milk, white pepper), and added a ton :) of Swiss chesese to that. Added the cauliflower and mashed some of it. Thinned it with the broth that was used to cook the cauliflower. Topped it with sour cream and bacon bits.
