Default Bought new cast iron skillets1

I just bought these 2 Lodge cast iron skillets yesterday! Lost the others while moving.

It's a shame you lost the others moving. We've had a lot of things stolen by movers during our years in the military. The Germans were the worst. Good luck with your new skillets.

For a skillet, instead of cast iron, how a carbon steel skillet would compare.
Such as a 12-inch Lodge carbon steel skillet https://goo.gl/QbztF9

Cast iron holds heat for a long time after cooking the food.

That would be great for camping but think I'd want one with non stick just for the ease of cleaning. The best cheap one I got was from IKEA but the All Clad is indestructible and does not wear out.

We car camp now so cast iron is not a problem.

Sounds like a good idea, but the long handles on those pans would make them impossible to get into the oven, since I also use them in the oven as well.

The stove is only 24", which means that the oven is quite small. The smaller skillet is used to bake cornbread.
