I made these for our Kentucky Derby party this year (get it? Devils on HORSEBACK???) http://allrecipes.com/recipe/215385/devils-on-horseback/

Anyway, I made 32 of them - I stuffed half of the dates with a smoked almond and half with blue cheese. Wrap each with half a slice of bacon, dunk in a mixture of soy sauce and ginger, then dip in brown sugar. Sprinkle more brown sugar on top.

Bake in a 400 oven for about 20 minutes or more, until bacon is done.

We gobbled them all up!

I've wanted to try the oyster version just never got to it.

A few months ago went to the art museum fund raiser and couldn't get enough of the date version.

John, I believe the oyster version was the original, called Angels on Horseback.

I'll have to look up why they are called that.
